In 2021, Hudson Food Group acquired the iconic importing business Delta Sales. Formed in 1967, Delta was a trailblazer in procuring and supplying food products from the Mediterranean into what was then a new but burgeoning continental retail market. We are immensely proud of this union of two family-owned food companies with nearly 90 years of combined history. Our strong sense is that the relationships we build with our people, customers, and partners are at the forefront of everything we do. Our vision is to broaden our range, strengthen our retail footprint, and offer uniqueness to our customers.
Delta was founded by Anthony Beris, who originally came from Methoni, a coastal village in Messinia, Greece—an ancient place featured in Homer’s Odyssey as ‘Ampbelofila,’ meaning ‘of vine leaves.’ Founded in 1967, Delta had a vision of sourcing and distributing high-quality European foods to satisfy the growing demand in Australia. It remains a boutique importer of fine European products, growing due to its passion and commitment, which are core values of the company. With a long history and strong ties to the European Community, Delta Sales is well respected within the industry and has forged lasting relationships with authentic, premium suppliers around the world. With the acquisition by Hudson Food Group, Delta is now operating out of our modern facilities in Tullamarine.
One of the most important things to us is our reputation. A reputation that’s been hard won over a long period of time finding and importing the foods we love from Greece, the Mediterranean and Europe. It has meant that sometimes, rather than coming home from overseas on schedule, we have kept on looking far and wide for that perfect product, because taking ‘almost good enough’ just isn’t good enough.
